Why choose chin dermal fillers?
Chin enhancement using dermal fillers acts to replace lost volume due to the ageing process. With age, the chin bone can resorb and facial fat shifts downward, leading to a weak chin line, flattened jaw, and marionette or mouth-to-chin lines.
Chin or jaw line filler treatments:
- Restore lost volume in the chin and lower face
- Redefine the jawline for improved facial symmetry
- Smooth marionette lines and reduce sagging skin
- Create a more youthful, balanced profile
What are chin fillers?
At Optimise Aesthetics, the dermal fillers we use are FDA-approved, reversible hyaluronic acid gels, which are injected into targeted areas for subtle but impactful results.
Just like the hyaluronic acid that your body naturally produces, synthetic hyaluronic acid fillers degrade slowly over time and are naturally broken down by enzymes in the dermis layer of your skin.
Benefits of chin dermal filler include:
- Contouring of the chin and jawline
- Deep hydration, as hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules
- Gradual, natural breakdown over 3-18 months
- Built-in local anaesthetic for added comfort
How do hyaluronic acid fillers work?
Dermal fillers consist of a synthetic hyaluronic acid gel. When injected into different layers of the face it can be used to reduce the appearance of sagging or loosening of the skin, folds, lines, wrinkles and to reshape areas of the face that have lost volume due to ageing. It has the added benefit of being very hydrating, as it attracts water molecules. This allows for a plumping and firming effect and gives a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Dermal filler injections are administered by using a needle or a cannula technique. Dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic within them which helps minimise discomfort during the procedure. Depending on the area treated you may also need to have topical local anaesthetic cream applied prior to treatment to minimise discomfort.
Results are visible immediately and last between three to eighteen months depending on the filler used.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do fillers last in your chin?
Hyaluronic acid chin fillers typically last between 6–18 months. Denser products and deeper placement can extend longevity, but metabolism and product choice play key roles.
What does filler in the chin do?
Chin dermal filler restores lost volume, enhances projection, and sharpens the chin line to balance facial proportions. It can also lift sagging skin around the jaw and smooth marionette lines for a more defined jaw line filler result.
What are the risks of chin fillers?
Minor side effects include bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection site. Rare but serious risks can involve vascular occlusion, infection, nodule formation, or in extreme cases, vision changes and tissue necrosis when not administered correctly. Always see a professional with extensive experience in dermal fillers to ensure proper technique and product selection in order to minimise these risks.
Does chin filler change your smile?
Chin filler is placed away from the muscles that control your smile, so natural expressions typically remain unaffected. Any temporary changes are usually due to mild post-treatment swelling and resolve within days.
Is chin filler very painful?
Most patients experience only a brief pinch or stinging sensation during chin filler injections, thanks to its built-in anaesthetic. Discomfort is generally rated as mild and subsides quickly after treatment.
Does chin filler look noticeable?
When performed by a skilled injector, chin line filler delivers subtle, natural-looking enhancement without appearing overly plump. Results blend seamlessly with surrounding features to refine contours.
Can chin fillers cause pillow face?
“Pillow face” occurs when fillers are placed too superficially or in excessive volumes, resulting in a puffy, overfilled appearance. This arises from poor technique – filler should be injected deeply, near the bone, for structural support. When administered by an experienced injector, chin fillers enhance bone structure without adding unwanted puffiness. It’s essential to discuss your goals and choose subtle, tailored cheek enhancement for a natural-looking result.
Does chin filler help jowls?
By restoring projection and structural support to the chin, jaw dermal filler lifts and reinforces the pre-jowl sulcus. This can minimise sagging jowls, creating a smoother, more youthful jawline.
How long does chin filler take to settle?
Most swelling from chin filler subsides within 3–4 days, revealing initial results. Fillers fully integrate and settle into the tissue over 2 weeks, with final outcomes visible thereafter.
How many sessions for chin fillers?
A single session is usually sufficient to achieve the desired chin contour, but heavier deficits can be addressed over two appointments. Maintenance touch-ups are recommended every 6–12 months to sustain optimal results.
What age should I get chin fillers?
There’s no strict age requirement for chin filler—ideal candidates are those noticing volume loss, weak projection, or asymmetry, typically from their late 20s onward. A professional assessment ensures treatments suit individual facial maturity and goals.
Do and don’ts after chin filler?
Do apply cold compresses, stay hydrated, and follow your injector’s instructions. Don’t massage the area, exercise vigorously, expose yourself to extreme heat or alcohol for 24–48 hours, or sleep on your face to minimise swelling and bruising.
