What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a pioneering hyaluronic acid–based skin booster that reduces the signs of ageing including loss of skin elasticity, dehydration and fine lines and wrinkles. As opposed to hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, which provides volume and contouring by physically filling lines or hollows, Profhilo hydrates and remodels tissues, improving overall skin quality by triggering natural regeneration. Profhilo treatment overview
Profhilo is administered by injection directly into the dermis. Depending on the area treated you may need to have topical local anaesthetic cream applied prior to treatment to minimise discomfort. Results are visible after the first treatment but the best results are visible at around four weeks after the second treatment. Your skin will appear more hydrated, healthy and youthful.
Skin booster treatments such as Profhilo will vary in frequency depending on your concern and on the physical properties of that skin booster. This will all be discussed during your consultation with Dr Bye prior to any treatments being performed. Two treatments four weeks apart is considered optimal.

What are the downsides of Profhilo?

Some users experience mild bruising, redness, or temporary swelling at injection sites, and the effects typically last 6–9 months, requiring regular maintenance sessions.
Is anything better than Profhilo?

Can Profhilo change face shape?
Profhilo is formulated to enhance skin quality and hydration, not to add volume or reshape facial contours. Unlike fillers, it self-diffuses without defined projection, so it will not alter your natural face shape or provide a lifting effect in the way that traditional fillers do.
How long will Profhilo last?
Most patients notice initial hydration improvements within days, with peak results around 4–6 weeks after the second session. On average, the rejuvenating effects of Profhilo last 6–9 months, though longevity varies by individual factors such as metabolism, skin condition, and lifestyle.
How painful is Profhilo?
The injection technique uses very fine needles and is generally described as “pinchy” rather than painful. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied before treatment to minimize discomfort, and most patients tolerate Profhilo injections well with minimal downtime.
Can you use Profhilo under eyes?
Profhilo is not recommended for the under-eye area due to its strong water-binding (hydrophilic) properties, which can lead to unwanted puffiness or edema. Specialised low-volume fillers or bespoke tear-trough treatments are safer for rejuvenating under-eye hollows.
Does Profhilo cause pillow face?
“Pillow face,” characterised by an overly full, rounded appearance, is rare with Profhilo but can occur if swelling or nodularity persists beyond 48 hours. These lumps usually resolve naturally within a few days. Consult a practitioner if lumps endure past one week or if you experience asymmetry.
Who cannot have Profhilo?
Profhilo is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with active skin infections at injection sites, hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, or those on anticoagulant therapy. A full medical history and skin examination should be conducted before treatment to identify any risks.
Is Profhilo good for mature skin?
Profhilo is well suited to mature skin (ages 40–60+) that shows reduced elasticity, fine lines, or crepey texture. By deeply hydrating and stimulating collagen-elastin production, it improves skin firmness and glow, making it a valuable treatment for age-related skin changes
Is Microneedling as good as Profhilo?
